Joan of Ark; 22k, 14k,
copper, silver, moldavite, astrophylite,
ruby, prayer, tears, fire, and whisky
:o)
This one was inspired by the
French girl who led the French to victory
against the English. She was later burned at
the stake because of politics, but all the
while she stuck to her story that she was in
direct contact with God. The Church, which
led the conviction of heresy against her,
latter canonized her as a saint, martyr.
The gold is of the sun god, with the Russian
Stone, Astrophylite glitters like a bon fire
in the sun's light, reminding us of Joan's
sacrifice. The stone is also mildly
radioactive. It will set a single ping off
on a geiger counter; however, it is no more
radioactive than a glow-in-the-dark wrist
watch. Moldavite is a stone that is of
earthly origins, but it was formed by an
impact from a meteorite large enough to
throw molten earth up into the air in liquid
form, crystalizing it in the sky. An earth
thing formed by a heavenly impact, as Joan
was shaped by a heavenly impact. The ruby in
the hand is a reminder of another sacrifice
from Joan's religion. And, the arrow is the
sharp pinpoint edge that lives were taken on
the battlefield in the name of God.
I have formed the 24k gold layer on the left
using a keumbo method. The prongs are 14k,
as well as the arrow shaft. The metal is
patina'd using several combined recipes.
